Hey there Sonia - e-mail me with your contact info and your 50 sheets of Bazzill will be sent right out to it's new happy home!

Okay - so here is that chipboard album from the first post on Monday. Pictures first - then my oh-so-brief commentary. . .

As you all know, I'm quite the fan of manufacturer paper packs - I mean, dude, the work is already done! Don't get me wrong - I've traveled down the road of mixing manufacturers - and I will again. . . sure, just put me in a room with, like, 50 sheets of patterned paper from different manufacturers - and I can totally pick at least three sheets of said paper that would work together perfectly. Okay, um, if we could narrow that number down to, lets say, three sheets of paper in that room - then I could definitely make it out of there in less than seven hours with my sanity intact - definitely. Just ask my friends - oh, but not my friend who is a scrapbooking goddess - to whom I turn with every annoying question - and who eventually just picks my paper for me. . . no, please don't ask her.

Anyway, the above chipboard album is from Maya Road, the patterned paper pack from Daisy Ds and I used many, many rub-ons and stamps and paint (oh my) to dress it up. Nothing real fancy - and I'm not sure it's even done at this point - or for that matter, what it will be used for. Originally, it was to be an 'all about me' album for a friend's 40th birthday - be we all remember that debacle (see post from 12/31/08 if you're new).

Now, on to one of those cardstock-only layouts everyone's been talking about. I share this one first - because it was my introduction to Becky Higgins. This layout is pretty much an exact replica of a layout in her first "Sketches" book. Can we say "aah, sweet freedom"?? (If you've not checked out her work - seriously - you should.) A little background - this serious of photos was taken the day my first turned one month old. I took 10 rolls of film - yeah, you read that right - FILM. Mr. Cardstock still laughs when we remember how much money I used to spend on photo developing. Well, he doesn't so much laugh. . . I was one of those moms who shot, on average, 15 rolls every month {ACK}! You know those CM photo holders that hold 2400(ish) pictures?? Yeah, I have pictures from Sam's first year in TWO of them {double ACK}! Oh, and no, his first year scrapbook is NOT finished - thankyouverymuch!

And for only weighing in at 4 1/2 pounds when this sweetums popped out - I'd say he chubbed up quite nicely :-) Yeah, I could just eat him up - and don't even get me started on those monkey toes. . .

Now, I don't know if any of you are {gasp} cross-crafty - but I like to knit. I took up knitting when my oldest started preschool - that way I would always know what to do for teacher Christmas gifts - scarves, scarves and more scarves! Well, this past holiday was a 100% handmade holiday - I knitted until my fingers were numb. Oh, don't feel bad, once the kiddos are tucked in, knitting gives the perfect excuse to cuddle up under a blanket, have a glass {"bottle"} of wine and watch educational television (read: The Office and One Tree Hill reruns). Shameless, I know. Anyway, this year I tried something different - neckwarmers. Think turtleneck sweater without the sweater. (I'll have to take a picture of it being worn for it's awesomeness to fully be portrayed.)
And, because I'm always looking for ways to get my little ones involved, I picked up one of those Knifty Knitter looms this year. Those things are AWESOME!! Kids can really create with them. Here's a couple hats we did together this year (with a matching scarf with the remaining yarn). These children's hats knit up in about an hour - it doesn't get much better than that!

Our family Christmas with my parents comes this weekend - so I'll have more awesomeness to share after that {oh yeah mom - get ready for fabulous}!

Well, my daughter LOVED all the {completely unsolicited} comments about her picture - thank you, thank you. And, in the name of equality - here's a picture of Sam from my Favorites folder:

And now - what you've all {really} been waiting for - today's giveaway. . . MORE CARDSTOCK!! What's that you say?? You have more cardstock? Why how can that be?
Yeah - I guess she's seen my cardstock closet. . .

This give away is for another 50-pack of assorted 8.5x11 Bazzill cardstock (2 sheets/color). Hey all you cardmakers - this ones for you! To be entered in the drawing for - just make a comment about (my son, of course) a tip for what on earth I can do with that album up there - ARG!! The winner will be chosen and posted on Friday evening. Good luck!

Blessings,
Vicki

Congrats to the paper pack winners!
I think that Album would be a fun Art Journal~doodles, thoughts, random photos you love,(& love letters with those pics), dreams, color combos that catch your eye... what ever you want to put in it~just for fun!
Yes, your cutie did "plump up", but he was only a small snack compared to my chubsters! Those photos are adorable! Where are the "monkey toe" shots? With 10 rolls of FILM, you must have a toe photo or two! Let's see 'em!

Okay - I didn't think he could get any more adorable and then you post the pic from your favorites! He is soooo cute!!

I would use the album to make a "Girlfriends" album. I have a close group of "Girlfriends" (I'm one of the youngest, at 41, by about 15 years but that doesn't make any difference when we're all together!) that started out as a Cardmaking Club at a LSS that one of the Girls owned. We continued to get together even after she closed the shop and that was 3 yrs ago. We've been croppin' and swappin' for 4 yrs. I think your album would be perfect to tell about that relationship. Guess I need to get on the ball and make one myself! : )

Wow! That is ALOT of pictures! But I can see why you couldn't take the camera off of him...he is so cute!

I think it would be the perfect album for a teen girl. So bright and colorful with a little funk thrown in for good measure.

And I would love to win the next paper pack. Thanks for the chance.

Wow, your scarves and hats are great to start off with! And so is your boy... arent little boys just so different from little girls... well from what ive seen even though i know people who would argue. There just little men.
As for the album, it reminds me of my neice, who is 15, shes definently into the bright pink and look at me type of colors. But you could also do something simple like ask your daughter what she wants for people to know about her, like things she likes do do on a summer day, what her favorite flower is and use a picture of her with the flower, or you could make it a mommy and me album since its so girlie. just things that you and your daughter like to do just the two of you. thats would be a cute one i think.

Oh love your baby layout... I reckonised that Becky layout as soon as I saw it... she is a real master at putting layouts together... so my tip as to what to do with all your pics... find a Becky layout or two or three that work, some of your lovely cardstock... and GET SCRAPPING.
Your chipboard album is also gorgeous.

Hi Vicki!
What a lovely looking boy you have! And such a funny picture! Wich I was that lucky with my picture taking...And as for the book why not make it a personal calendar for 2009 or a notebook for some spesial happenings through out the year.

No problem finding pictures to scrappbooking from such a lot!:)

Little Sam is adorable. I love his eyes! Little heart-breaker in the making. I think I still have that issue of CK with Becky's baby LOs in it. When I saw the album with the index tabs I first thought recipes, then no.. too messy and then I thought it would be a cute way to index verses and sayings for CARDS! Cute birthday sayings for diff themes and ages, Bible verses for encouragement, sympathy, babies, etc. Seems like I am always going to the internet for a clever greeting or saying for in the inside of the card and here they could be compiled and ready to go (I don't have stamps with sayings on them). It's really pretty! I love the painted edges.

Your little boy's personality really shines through in his smile! What a cutie!!

I totally know what you can do with your journal (which turned out AWESOME, BTW!). Mail it off to me in- it would be PERFECT to document all the home renovating I'm doing! LOVE the color combos! Oh, not what you had in mind for suggestions? LOL. Honestly, with that kickin' combo of colors and patterns, the sky's the limit for how you could use your journal. It would work for pretty much anything! Carol

That little boy is a cutie! Love that face! I love the album...fun bright colors that would make a great summer days book or a book about your friends. So, so cute!!!

(And I think I need to get that knitter thingy...love those hats!)

I think you have a little heartbreaker on your hands! What a smile!

I like to knit too...my mom owned a yarn shop when I was growing up and I loved working there. I don't knit as much as I used to - might have to pull out the old needles again!

I would use it for a Random Thoughts about Me Journal.
That little boy is just too darn cute

Your son is absolutely adorable! I could just eat him up in those baby pics of him. I think your album would be great as a things you want your daughter to know about life, or things you want her to always remember when she gets older.

What a cute little baby - they are just so adorable when they have little rolls and jiggles.

I'd use the album for a quick review of highlights from 2008 - just a picture from each month or so and some quick journaling highlights.

He's so cute! Love the album too, it would make a great art journal!

Ok, the kid pix are just too cute. That baby, those cheeks, the Michelin-Man rolls... absolutely edible, I agree! The book is also adorable. I think I would save it for the summer. It reminds me of Ali Edwards' December Daily album; you could use it for a summer daily book or something like that.

Your kids are cute! Your son has such beautiful eyes and such a nice smile - *sigh* my DS has had a couple of top teeth out for the last 6 mos. and now looks like a jack-o-lantern (cute for Halloween, but for Valentine's Day? Not so much).
But I digress...the album is gorgeous! Can you possibly give it as a gift to someone? A well-deserving teacher perhaps, or save up pics for Mom's Day to give to a beloved grandparent? Or heck, a gift to yourself and put pics of your kids to admire year-round. (If I'd spent that much work on such a cool album, I'd be tempted to keep it to myself! ;) )

I think I would use the chipboard album for a "Favorites" book. document some of your favorite things, take some pics of them and stand it up in your creative space. It would be a great chance for the kids to know a little bit more about you when they get older!
That pic of Sam is so great! He's such a handsome kid! I can't wait to see you guys tomorrow! Love!

The photo of your son is adorable. Since it's in your "favorites" folder, why not just use the album for all of your favorite photos?

Your son's a cutie too. I love the chipboard album too. You're very talented. Thanks for sharing all the pix.

Thanks for the opportunity. I love cardstock & would love to win some too.

My goodness, your kids are just too cute! What a sweet, happy face your little guy has! As far as the album, hmmm it is definitely feminine so not for Sam, but maybe some Mommy and her little girl pics? Or maybe all the ladies in your family?

Mine! I love the chipboard album. So beautiful. I will use it as a "album lift" for a mini album I am working on now for Valentine. Thanks for the inspiration.

Lynette C said...

Oh, I forgot to mention in my previous comment that your album can be a Valentine album. And who says it have to be all hearts. Flowers do just as well for Valentine.

I'm totally cross-crafty too!

I think the album would work very well for a teenage girl!

Looks like it would be a cute girls getaway weekend album!!!

I think your album should be a picture of all the things that you knit. A "look what I've done" album.

I love knitting & papercrafting, too. The album was great--perfect for a girl without being over-the-top girlie. The album could be fun for kiddos to fill out each year, then look back to see how they've changed over the years.

Just found your blog site. I found it on Bits&Pieces. When Cathy mentioned give away I had to check it out. Cool site thanks.

TAGYN said...

The album is as cute as your kids!
I made an album for my daughter titled ¨just be you¨ and maybe you could make something like that for yours or your friend!

Unknown said...

Sam is so handsome! Perfect name for that adorable face!

Talking of teacher gifts, give the album to one of your kids teachers! Gives you an excuse to make another one for the OTHER kid's teacher. I'm a teacher and I'd love something like that. But then again, who wouldn't?

Unknown said...

It might be fun to use it as a birthday album for your little girl, spanning several years (look at me grow!) or just one favorite.

Clara said...

Love that picture of your son! I think that mini album would be great with some of your favorite quotes. Or it's got enough variety that you could use it for all your favorite shots of your kids. I think it would work wonderfully for that.

Is he really the baby in the photos above?? They grow up so fast - and cute!

I was wondering what your were going to do with the chipboard album myself - perhaps you could display all of your non-scrapbooking crafts - like your scarves and hats!

Thanks for the chance to win! LOVE that cardstock...Karen

I think that the album would be a perfect tribute album for a woman or girl in your life. Maybe a Mother's Day gift.
