Tell me what cha want - what cha really really want

Hello readers!!

Here's wishing you all a very peace-filled new year. From our family to yours:

So, with 2009 comes updates and improvements for Simply Cardstock! In hopes of providing SC members and blog readers with inspiration (or at least some eye candy to go with your morning coffee) - this will be a place for projects, alterables, layouts, cards - and oh so much more. Some projects will even have step-by-step directions along with pictures. Also, any members who are so inspired, can have their projects posted here as well! Just send me an e-mail at info@simplycardstock.com with your project attached and your work can be featured here.

And, because anyone who knows me knows how easily distractable I am - ooh lookie, something shiny - wait, is that a cookie - I'm think I'm hungry - oh dear the pantry needs organized - ahem, I'm almost certain to infuse daily doses of life and calamity into said project postings.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled mission . . . here are some of my recent favorites (in no particular order lest I hurt their feelings):

I did this layout at a weekend crop - it was one of about three layouts I completed during that {entire}weekend (two of which were exact replicas of layouts featured in Cathy Zielski's "Clean & Simple Scrapbooking"). I'd say my productivity for that particular weekend was sub par - but I sure did catch up on my sleep and snack intake!

Last year I made 'layout of the month' albums for my family members. I attached the 8x8 layouts to chipboard and then included one of those big clothespins for displaying. Since the layouts were smaller it wasn't too overwhelming to get the design done - one picture - some patterned paper - ribbon - done. They turned out cute enough to make it a yearly gift (per my mom's oh so subtle hints).

This was one of those cards that {out of desparation} came together in mere minutes. I needed a photo of a handmade card to put in a flyer for our church card ministry. So, I grabbed stuff that was laying {ahem} neatly organized on my desk, and made a card I thought I'd like to receive. Oh no, I'll never send it to myself - that would just be silly.

Ack - this is the album that would just never end. I started this mini album as an "All About Me" gift for one of my girlfriends. She was the first of my childhood group who would celebreate a 'milestone' birthday. So about six months prior to that I had this fabulous idea to make a bunch of these reflective albums for my girlfriends who were all coming up on {gulp} 40. Oh, I could just envision the heartfelt gathering we would all have - looking back on our lives together - all the ups and downs - the memories created. And then life took over - and a year or so passed - all birthday celebrations came and went - and not an album to be given. Perhaps for their 45th??? We'll see. . . (By the way - I love the end product - it's just never going to be duplicated!)

What's that you say now? Any blog launch worth it's weight in cardstock would offer a GIVE-AWAY on it's very first post ever?? Well, you're in luck my friends because today's give away is nothing other than a huge pack-o-cardstock. Who knows what you want - eh? But seriously, I've got a sheet or two (or 50) of Bazzill cardstock just laying around that would love to go to a home where it actually has a hope of being used. To be entered, just leave a comment about something you'd like to see featured by this blog - and a winner will be drawn and posted Monday evening 1/5/09! Comments will be closed on Monday 1/5/09 at 9pm EST

Don't forget to check back often - as there will be weekly (sometimes daily) give aways! (Or as Mr. Cardstock calls it - either contain your supplies to one room or I'll put them in the garage sale.)

Here's to a wonderful week ahead - any many chances to encourage others and spread kindness!!

Blessings,
Vicki

Romans 12:8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. . . And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

I love when people use cardstock to make it their own. Whether they stamp their own design on it, add their own textures through embossing, or whatever their creative minds come up with. It just gives their projections something truely unique. I would love to see more examples of new and unique ways to use cardstock. I know that some people are just really great at this, but as a beginner myself I love to get ideas for my own creations, from others.

Scrap usage, I have a TON of scrap cardstock, and need some *creative* ways to use it up. I don't do cards, unfortunately... though I should.

Hi. Vicki. How many good news you told us in this very early new year! I've loved your blog and all your ideas for it. Definitively, what I'd like to see here is a lot of inspiration and ideas.
I'm adding this blog to my Google reader right now in order don't loose any news!
I hope you have the best year ever and I'd like to thank you for all your support during last year (and say: how beautiful is your family!).
Thank you again!

Hi Vicky,

I was directed to this blog by Molly, and I like what I see! I'm actually excited about this, because I'm one of those few (beginning) scrappers who's not too fond of bought embellies, I like to make everything myself and make sure that the embellies match the LO. I don't like stuffing it up with bought flowers for example (or maybe that's just what I tell myself because I don't have the budget to buy it all LOL ...). I love using cardstock, for my latest LO (to be found on my blog), I only used cardstock, my scissors and my colouring pens. I am anxious to see all the things you will come up with. As many others have said before me, I would love to have some tutorials, some step-by-step instructions to make our projects a little more attractive.
xxx Peggy

Congratulations on your new blog! Cardstock is the thing I ALWAYS need, so I often end up buying favorite background colors in bulk...hello to "The kraft Period" in my scrapbooks... so I would like to see ways to use it economically, as well as ideas for great color combos that can be used multiple ways.

Even though I'm a scrapper, I find cards difficult to make. So, I'd love to see more cards for inspiration. I'm wanting to make my daughter's teachers a set of cards as a gift - cards for every occasion. I'd also love tips/techniques on things you do. For example, the painted edges on the About Me journal book. I'm sure I could figure it out, but I like things spelled out. My biggest question is the type of paint used, what are the pages made of, did you dilute the paint, etc.

Look forward to seeing more entries on your blog!

I would like to see technique tutorials, I love to learn new ways to beef up my layouts.

I'm really glad that you have started a blog because I really like your work. I love to read blogs and the ones that I am drawn to the most are the ones that offer good directions on making the projects featured. I would love to have instructions on your blog that will teach me something new. Also, I love the idea of adding some "daily stuff", too. New recipes are wonderful!! Also, any suggestions that you can post about organizing our lives and our scrapbook/art products would be greatly appreciated, too. I can't wait to start following your blog to see what all you are going to feature.

Hi! My name is Suzi and I'm a cardstockaholic!
I just love it! I want to just collect it. It's too pretty to use. If I use it now, I won't have it for later! Drives me crazy, but there are worse addictions, right?

Oh my, I you had me giggling right off the bat. I think we could be related with that whole distraction thing going on..lol. Congrats on starting your own blog. What I would like to see. Well, I am stuck in a rut with doing the same old sizes for cards. How about different sized card tutorials and ideas..and where to buy the darned odd sized envelopes. Of course, I like all tutorials as I don't get much time to play so I copy everyone else right now..lol. God Bless all you creative souls out there.

Love the cardstock! Love the blog! 2009 is going to be awesome! I too suffer from SB (scatterbrain), therefore I would like to see ideas for projects that can be completed in one sitting, so I don't get sidetracked before returning to "that" project. I look forward to submitting some small things I have completed in a decent time span. Long live scrapping!!
